Each year, in late spring, the San Bernardino Mountainside is decorated with the bright yellow Scotch Broom Plant, Except this year, it seems to be thicker and brighter. As I was driving down the mountain yesterday, I took the photo below.

The  Scotch Broom is a perennial shrub that is native to western and central Europe, and loves a very sunny spot. The plant likes dryer, sandy soils at lower altitudes. Scotch Broom usually grows in areas along roadways, making Highway 18 (Rim of The World Highway) a perfect place for this shrub.
