Top "Five" Things to Do & See in the Winter ~ Lake Arrowhead/San Bernardino Mountains

If you think our San Bernardino mountains and Lake Arrowhead is just for summertime fun, you are 
wrong. We have activities happening all year, even winter. Here are a couple of ideas:
1. National Forest Association of San Bernardino, spring, summer, fall and WINTER our forest folks always have something exciting to offer. Check it out.
2.Rim Nordic cross county skiing OR regular skiing at one of our local mountain resorts.
3. WildHaven : Their motto is “Preserving wildlife helps heal the human spirit.” and it’s easy to see that they mean it, when you visit this awesome place.
4.Lake Arrowhead Village: Take a casual walk around the Village, shop and dine or maybe a tour on the Arrowhead Queen. On the tour you’ll learn so much information about Lake Arrowhead, but especially the “movie stars” of yesteryear!
5.Rim Bowling: Okay, now this really is a year round activity… what are you waiting for?

Skiing in The San Bernardino Mountains ~ Perfect Day!
Skiing
SNOW VALLEY, in Running Springs–San Bernardino Mountains–is right in my back door (almost). For those of us who live in or, around, Lake Arrowhead, it’s only about a 30 minute drive from our front door. Snow Valley has some gentle runs (in my opinion) and it’s a great place to take the entire family. From their link (above), you can access snow reports, buy tickets, get a terrain report and tons, tons more! Snow Valley tries to open every year around Thanksgiving. Map & Directions
There’s some interesting history about SNOW SUMMIT, in Big Bear, that you may not know; A sportsma n named Tommi Tyndall, along with his wife and other investors, are responsible for this ski area and for the installation of the FIRST chair lift in the nation! Snow Summit is about 90 minutes from Los Angeles, gets quite a bit more snow than Snow Valley and has more “strenuous” runs.
